The procedures and regulations below have been formulated to ensure that the market runs smoothly and successfully and that all vendors are treated fairly.  Vendors must agree to comply with them when joining the market.

  • Individuals desiring to become members of the market must submit an application.  Farmers, processors, and food vendor’s products will be screened by the Market Manager.  New crafters and returning crafters with new items will have their product juried by the WFM Jury Committee
  • All products must be grown, raised, produced or made by the vendor or family members in Washington.  Produce reselling is allowed only on a limited basis and must be approved by the Market Manager.  No commercial items are allowed.  The Market reserves the right to inspect a farm or workplace to insure compliance.
  • The Jury Committee will evaluate all new crafters products and randomly review all products throughout the year.  Products are judged on quality of craftsmanship, originality and variety.  Goods that are noticeably inferior, different, or other than represented in the application/jury process are subject to further review or removal from the market.  No crafts other than those approved by the Jury Committee can be marketed.
  • Each vendor's state business tax ID number is required to be on file with the WFM Market Manager.  Vendors are responsible for collection of Washington State sales tax.
  • The Market Manager will assign all spaces.  Vendors must verify their space assignment before setting up. Farmers and Processors will be given first consideration for placement in the market.  Specific location requests will be considered but not guaranteed. Vendors who commit to the market for the full season have priority in space assignments.
  • Vendors must unload and have their vehicles removed from the market area by 8:30 AM on market day. Booths must be set up and ready for business by 9:00 AM and stay open until the close of the market at 3:00 PM.  If a vendor sells out of product they must notify the Market Manager before beginning early tear down.  If vendors arrive late they cannot set up unless specific permission is given from the Market Manager.
  • Vendors display their goods at their own risk.  The WFM is not responsible for damage, theft, or loss of goods.
  • Safety is a high priority for all of us.  We want to insure vendors and customers have the opportunity to enjoy the market free from potential hazards.  Following are a few guidelines to help you when setting up your booth:
    • Make sure your display is well supported.
    • Tables should be sturdy.
    • Wall displays should be well secured.
    • Freestanding displays (yard art for example) should be placed so customers can walk through safely.
    • Hang items inside your booth, not outside.
    • Keep breakable and fragile items out of the reach of small children.
  • Vendors are responsible for removing debris and trash from their booth space at the close of each market day.  Flower vendors are strongly encouraged to place tarps or plastic underneath their display/working areas to catch debris for easy clean up.      NO PLANT OR PRODUCE DEBRIS CAN BE LEFT ON SITE .
  • If you know in advance that you will not be coming to the market on a given Saturday, please let the Market Management team know by Thursday so appropriate adjustments can be made.  (Kathy for Crafters and Grant for everone else)  Last minute cancellations may be assessed an extra booth fee upon their return.
  • Vendors bringing children to the market must supervise them at all times.  Children are not allowed to ride bikes, skateboards or roller skates, run or wonder through the market.
  • Youth vendors are welcome at the WFM.  Those under age 11 must have an adult present with them at all times.
  • Vendors are not allowed to bring their pets to the market.
  • Vendors are expected to behave courteously to customers, other vendors and market staff at all times.  Vendors are not to publicly disparage other vendors or their products.
  • Vendors are responsible for making sure that all family members and/or persons working at their booth are familiar with and adhere to all market rules.
  • Loud hawking of goods, or actions which disturb other vendors or customers is not allowed.
  • The WFM will take place rain or shine.  Please come prepared for wind gusts, which tend to uproot canopies if not weighted down.  A weight of 25 pounds per canopy leg is required.  Sidewall protection for canopies is highly recommended to keep you and your products dry.
  • All vendors who wish to erect canopies on the farmers market site during a normal period of market operations, including the set up and break down period, are required to have their canopies sufficiently and safely anchored from the time their canopy is put up until it is taken down.  Any vendor who fails to properly anchor his or her canopy will not be allowed to sell at the farmers market on that market day, unless that vendor chooses to take down and stow their canopy and sell without it.
  • Vendors can rent a canopy from the Market for $5.00 per day.  They may also rent a set of weights for $5.00 per day.  They are available on a first come first served basis.  Please check with the Market Manager if you wish to rent either of these items.
  • The WFM does not allow smoking by vendors in their selling space. If necessary vendors are permitted to smoke away from booths.  Please dispose of ashes and butts in a proper receptacle.
  • The WFM does not allow the consumption of alcohol or illegal substances on the WFM premises during normal market hours.
  •  All rules of the market are enforced by the Market Manager or Assistant Manager, who have ultimate on-site authority.  Complaints or problems should be directed to the Market Manager in a manner that is not disruptive to the market.  Vendors may be asked to put their complaints in writing before any action is taken.   The Market Manger is authorized to take appropriate action to remedy complaints which may include barring the vendor from selling that day and or future days.  A vendor may appeal in writing any decision of the Market Manager concerning violation of these rules to the Board.  A decision by the Board shall constitute a final decision of any appeal.  The WFM reserves the right to make exceptions to these rules at its discretion.
